How do push notifications work?

What does and doesn't trigger a push notification in the Yacht Week app.

The Yacht Week app sends push notifications for two types of activity: new posts on the newsfeed, and new messages in any chat. If notifications are enabled for the app on your phone, you'll see these without needing to open the app.

What triggers a push notification

You'll get a push when there's a new post on the newsfeed for your route, and when new messages land in any chat you're part of β€” direct messages, custom group chats, or your yacht group chat. Newsfeed pushes include posts from your fellow guests and, from six weeks before your event, posts from our team.

What doesn't

A few things don't currently trigger a push notification. It's worth knowing where to check for these:

When your yacht is assigned, we send an email rather than a push notification. The email is the signal that your app access has opened β€” and that your check-in marina is now published on theyachtweek.com/account.

When your itinerary is published or updated in the app, no push notification is sent. From around two weeks before your event, check the Itinerary section in the app at the start of each day for any changes.

Managing notifications

To stop receiving push notifications from Yacht Week, mute notifications for the app in your phone's settings.
